FTP Browser FAQ

* Email me if there are features you would like to see!

How to get to saved files off your device via iTunes file sharing:

Now you can get your files off your iPhone just as if it were a thumbdrive! Just connect your iPhone or iPod touch to iTunes and select your device in the left window pane. This should show your device in the main window of iTunes.

Now click on the "Apps" tab on the top of the main window. This will show you all the apps you currently have installed on your device. Scroll to the bottom of this page and you will see all your apps with iTunes file sharing enabled.

Select FTP Browser from the list and voila! You can download or upload any file you want to or from your computer. Enjoy! Please let me know if you have any difficulties.

Timeout issues:

Update: These should be dramatically corrected with the latest iOS 4 release of FTP Browser. However, if you still experience difficulties please let me know.

If you are experiencing connection or timeout issues try increasing the timeout setting in FTP Browser.

If you can NEVER connect and the connection always times-out, then the issue is probably related to your server's connection settings. Make sure that all IdentLookups are OFF and UseReverseDNS is OFF. A good way to test it out is to try and connect to your desired FTP server with Firefox. See if you can connect, and how long it takes. If it takes longer than 30 seconds, you probably need to change some settings in your server. If Firefox cannot connect, neither will FTP Browser. If Firefox can connect but FTP Browser still cannot, please contact me so I can look into your situation further.

* Note: I am working on multi-language support, but for now FTP Browser only supports standard english character sets.

Symlinks:

* In order for symlinks to work properly directories need to end with a "/" and files cannot. If they are thus named the browser will be able to handle them properly.
